Learn to Sail - Newport Beach Sailing School

  • trainingOutstanding Sailing School of the Year for 2008
  • Outsanding Sailing Instructor of the Year for 2008

Thank you for your interest in learning about our sailing school.
Sailing is our passion.  We love to teach people about this wonderful sport.  We issue ASA student certifications for ASA 101 (Basic Keelboat), ASA 103 (Basic Coastal Cruising), ASA 104 (Bareboat Charter) and ASA 105 (Coastal Navigation).

You may ask, what sets the Newport Beach Sailing School apart from all others?
We are fanatical about choosing the right instructor for you.  Almost all sailing instructors know how to sail themselves, but our sailing instructors really know how to teach.  They communicate in a way that makes it easy and fun to learn how to sail.  Our instructors are literally university professors, who currently teach business courses in local Southern California universities. They have been professionally taught how to train, coach and educate.

What else sets Newport Beach Sailing School apart?
We are dedicated to creating an environment where you will get your monies worth.  The value of a sailing school comes in your ability to become a proficient sailor.   That is why we only teach private or semi-private classes.  Our students graduate ready to competently sail a larger cruising sailboat sooner than other schools because they receive three times the amount of time behind the helm as other schools.

What type of boats does Newport Beach Sailing School utilize?
We have the newest and best equipped sailboats in our fleet. The oldest boat in our fleet is from 2005 with most yachts in the fleet from 2006, 2007 and 2008.  All of our yachts have passed an inspection by the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary and have all the necessary safety gear. They are fully loaded with the latest set of electronics from Raymarine including radar. We’ll teach you how to properly use the boats electronics to make your coastal cruising easier to enjoy and safer for your family.
